Tributes paid to firefighter who died final week

A fundraiser has been launched to assist the household of a firefighter who died final week.

Daniel Lee was discovered useless within the River Irwell.

The 41-year-old from Salford had been reported lacking from Manchester Metropolis Centre.

Now a fundraiser has been launched to assist his spouse and 4 youngsters.

It paid tribute to Mr Lee, saying: “After serving his nation as a Royal Marine Commando, Dan joined Higher Manchester Hearth and Rescue Service in 2006.

“Initially beginning his 16-year profession at Eccles Hearth Station, Dan then moved to serve his local people of Salford at Agecroft Hearth Station as a watch supervisor.

“Dan was a particularly common, revered and valued member of the fireplace and rescue service.

“His household, buddies and colleagues are shocked and saddened by his tragic passing and he shall be enormously missed by all.

“Dan leaves behind his fiancée Simone and 4 youngsters.
