Nationwide Air and Area Museum to reopen reconstructed wing

The Smithsonian’s Nationwide Air and Area Museum will reopen half of its constructing on the Nationwide Mall to the general public on October 14 after intensive renovations.

The museum introduced this week that it’ll unveil eight new and up to date displays, the planetarium, museum store and cafe within the west finish of the constructing. The Apollo 11 command module and Neil Armstrong’s Apollo 11 spacesuit will likely be again on public show.

The museum mentioned in a press launch that Kenneth C. Griffin Exploring the Planet Gallery and Thomas W. The Haas We All Fly displays are among the many new options.

Haas displays embody the Lear Jet 23 and Sean D. Tucker’s Oracle Challenger III high-performance plane, a latest acquisition.

The reopening comes amid a seven-year renovation that started in 2018. All 23 exhibitions and presentation areas within the constructing are to be redesigned by 2025.
