47 California deputies stripped of weapons after failing psych exams

OAKLAND, Calif. – The Alameda County Sheriff’s Workplace has stripped 47 deputies – 10% of the power – of their weapons and arrest powers as a result of they failed psychological exams within the wake of a deadly double taking pictures allegedly dedicated by a former deputy.

It was “horrible’’ to have to alleviate the deputies of their duties, sheriff’s spokesman Lt. Ray Kelly informed KTVU-TV.

The station obtained a duplicate of a letter notifying the deputies of their change of standing final Friday. The deputies will nonetheless obtain their pay and advantages.

The transfer got here after the Sheriff’s Workplace carried out an inner audit of deputies’ psychological examinations from January 2016 to the current.

The letter from Sheriff Gregory Ahern notified a deputy – whose identify was blacked out within the copy – that the deputy had been graded “D. Not Suited” in a psychological analysis and beneath state legislation couldn’t function a peace officer.
